MTh Course Director
After studying at Durham, Liz taught history at secondary school level. Following a PhD in history which examined the impact of the Reformation on the Tudor royal household, Liz trained for the ministry at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. She then had a curacy in the East Riding and following three years teaching Church History at Cranmer Hall, she became priest-in-charge of a parish also in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Throughout this time Liz was developing an interest in accompanying people in prayer through the ministry of spiritual direction.
Liz married Toddy, also ordained in 2000 and they shared ministry in a rural benefice of 8 churches. Liz developed ‘godly play’ in the parishes as a way of reaching out to families. She also ran training courses in spiritual direction and taught spirituality at Cranmer Hall, Durham. She was appointed to teach at Wycliffe in 2007 and is currently Tutor in spiritual formation and Dean for Women.
Liz writes a weekly column in the Church of England Newspaper and is a member of the Grove spirituality group. She is working on a number of writing projects in spirituality and history and relaxes by baking bread, reading novels and walking the dog.
