Applications open for the 2026-27 Theomousikos programme

March 2026

Applications are now open for the second cohort of the Theomousikos programme, a pioneering year-long formation in theology, music and leadership for church musicians and worship leaders.

As part of the Hall’s New Renaissance vision to foster Christian leadership, scholarship and culture, Theomousikos equips musicians with the theological depth and practical skills to serve effectively in local communities and the wider church.

We welcome musicians working in all styles and genres, nurturing creative harmony between diverse worship traditions.

Theomousikos can be taken either as a wrap-around, complementary programme for students enrolled on degree courses at Wycliffe Hall, or as a standalone course. Following a pilot with existing Wycliffe Hall students, we’re delighted to open the doors to external participants in 2026-27.

Theomousikos Coordinator Dr Christopher Blakey says:

‘Theomousikos has sparked enthusiastic uptake among our current student community. We have heard from some inspiring and insightful guest speakers, and have enjoyed a regular pattern of study, reflection, and practical workshops. These sessions have provoked profound discussion and inspired new creativity and collaboration amongst our cohort. We are excited to be inviting applications to the programme next year!'

Helen Clark, a student on the pilot programme, says:

'Taking part in Theomousikos has changed the way I worship and approach the Bible, and opened up my theology. Now when I write music, it’s much deeper and coming from a more Christlike way of thinking. As a class, we’ve become a community of our own which is really beautiful, and the standard of guests has been phenomenal. It’s my favourite course!'

The programme runs during the Oxford University term, with 2-3 hours of contact time per week, as well as one-off events such as conferences and concerts.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. To find out more and apply, visit the Theomousikos page.
