Rev Hadley Bennet

Wycliffe Hall is delighted to announce the appointment of the Revd Hadley Bennet as the new college chaplain. Hadley is currently completing a DPhil in the Theology and Religion Faculty at Oxford and has served in parish ministry and as chaplain in a sixth form college. She has taught theology students training for ministry and is a former solicitor.

Michael Lloyd writes: ‘I am really excited at this appointment. Wycliffe is committed to providing the best possible pastoral care, and Hadley comes with proven pastoral experience. One of Wycliffe’s Mission Aims is to be a centre for the renewal of Christian Prayer, and Hadley has developed a creative practical course on Christian spirituality. Another of Wycliffe’s Mission Aims is to be a centre for the renewal of Christian Thinking, and Hadley is currently undertaking doctoral research here at the University of Oxford. One of Wycliffe’s key tasks is to train the next generation of church leaders, and Hadley’s research focuses on the nature of leadership. And, finally, Hadley survived being taught doctrine and preaching by me during her ordination training, so she is clearly a person of impressive resilience! I am hugely looking forward to having Hadley on our team, and to working with her to make Wycliffe the most supportive possible community in which to study and train.’

Hadley writes: ‘I am very grateful, and deeply humbled, to be offered the role of chaplain at Wycliffe Hall. I am really looking forward to joining the college, and to belonging to this wonderful learning community which has had, and continues to have, a significant role to play in the leadership discourse of the Church of England. I am sure I have a great deal to learn but it will be a real pleasure to be part of Principal Michael Lloyd’s team.

Wycliffe is a place in which all are encouraged to flourish, and so I have no doubt that being able to minister here will prove to be a real joy.’

Hadley will start at Wycliffe in Michaelmas Term 2021.
