Wycliffe Hall Summer School 2026
Hope for what? Exploring the New Creation
'Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow', the hymn promises us. But what is that bright hope, and how does it strengthen us for radiant and resilient service today?
What can we know about the new creation?
What happens between death and resurrection?
What does our human destiny tell us about our human task?
What might a restored universe look like?
Christian hope has often been presented as going to heaven when we die. Tom Wright, in his book Surprised by Hope, challenged that view, arguing that this comes from ancient Greek philosophy, not from the Bible. In his most recent book, God's Homecoming, he has taken this further, and unpacked God's promise to fill the entire cosmos with His reconciling and renewing presence.
Join Professor Wright, Wycliffe tutors and other theological leaders for a week of teaching, reflection and conversation focusing on the world put right, so as to energise and equip us to be heralds and anticipatory agents of that 'putting right' in our lives today.
