Wycliffe Hall Summer School 2026

We are keen for you to experience the cultural side of Oxford as well as the academic side during your time with us. We have planned afternoon excursions for you to explore Oxford and the local area while enjoying fellowship with your fellow Summer School attendees and key Wycliffe Hall staff.

Oxford

Your home for the week and very walkable; Oxford is full of historic and beautiful buildings on every corner. We'll start the week with a guided tour of Oxford and one of the historic colleges of the world-renowned University of Oxford. There will be time throughout the week for you to explore this 'City of Dreaming Spires', from exploring our famous museums or punting on the Cherwell to afternoon tea in a charming tea room or sophisticated hotel.

Winchester

We'll take a day out during the week to explore the historic cathedral city of Winchester. Winchester was the ancient capital of England and played a central role in the nation’s early history. It was the royal seat of Anglo-Saxon kings like Alfred the Great in the 9th century, and its magnificent cathedral - one of the largest in Europe - is the resting place of Jane Austen. We’ll take a guided tour through the city’s historic centre, seeing the Great Hall and its legendary Round Table, the ruins of Wolvesey Castle, and the medieval streets and college, before exploring the cathedral itself.

Blenheim Palace

Located in Woodstock, a village just outside Oxford, Blenheim Palace is one of the largest stately homes in England. Currently the home of the Duke of Marlborough, it was the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. We'll visit the State Rooms and have time to explore the Formal Gardens and Parkland.

Hidcote Garden

We end the week with a visit to Hidcote, a world-famous Arts and Crafts-inspired garden in the Cotswolds. We'll spend the afternoon exploring its many garden 'rooms', each one with its own style and character.

Accommodation is available in Wycliffe Hall from £72 per night and we are pleased to offer guests at the Summer School the opportunity to book early and secure your room well in advance of public sale. We have rooms for single guests, couples and families at Wycliffe and would be delighted to have you stay with us. Breakfast in Wycliffe is included for all residential guests.

Some guests choose to find other accommodation in Oxford, and there is a range of options, from staying in an old prison cell at the Malmaison hotel to a luxury suite at the Old Parsonage hotel just down the road from Wycliffe. If you prefer an apartment or home to a hotel, there are several Airbnb properties in Oxford.
