What's next for the Class of 2026?
After the Commissioning Day service, the Wycliffe community celebrated with a barbecue
June 13th marked Commissioning Day, when Wycliffe Hall bid a formal farewell to this year's leavers as they prepare to take all they have learned into the wider world.
In their own words, here are some of their future hopes and plans. Please support them in your prayers as they prepare for all sorts of new beginnings:
Sophie Boughton
“I am going to be Curate of Saint Philip and Saint James Ilfracombe, St Peter’s Combe Martin and St Peter’s Berrynarbor. We are so excited to be moving to minister in North Devon. Please do be praying for Ben and me as we move and settle in, for my training incumbent Mark Ruoff and for all the people of this benefice.”
Ann Campbell
“It has been such a mix of challenge and reward studying the PG Diploma in Theology at Wycliffe. There has been nothing like it in my entire life for helping me understand the scriptures. I would like in the next few years to return and study an MPhil. Please pray that the Lord will provide the way to do this.”
Richard Crane
"I will be Curate at Trinity Church Henley, Oxford diocese. Excited to be back serving the Lord in parish ministry, but grateful for a special three years at Wycliffe. I will especially miss my fellowship group! Please pray that I will always rejoice in hope, persevere under pressure, and persist in prayer.”
Joshua De Thierry
“I'm continuing in my role as Associate Pastor at Sound Church in Bath and also working with the ministry ‘Trauma Informed Churches’. I would be so grateful for your prayer support for the church and ministry. The past two years studying the CTS course at Wycliffe has been brilliant and I will never forget my time here. Thank you Wycliffe Hall!”
Robin Emmanuel
“I'm going to be a curate at Christ Church Abingdon. I'm very thankful for the friends I've made here, the warmth of the staff and tutors, and the culture of sincere faith and love.”
Jacob Godsell
“My time at Wycliffe has been deeply formational and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my three years here. I will look back very fondly and will continue to enjoy the friendships I have made. As Esther and I move to Loughborough to begin curacy, please pray that we settle in well and for the health and protection of our baby who is expected in mid-July.”
Jonathan Harber
“I’m going to be Curate at St Luke's, Cheltenham. I've been hugely blessed to spend two years at Wycliffe, and am enormously grateful for having the opportunity to learn and study in community; for the friendships, teaching and godly heritage. Worshipping together as sisters and brothers in Chapel has been a great blessing.
“As I start my curacy, I'd hugely appreciate prayer for being a whole-hearted, loving, patient and self-controlled follower of Jesus who abides in Him. And for wisdom and a servant-hearted attitude, as I seek to serve the congregations and wider communities in Cheltenham, and look for ways to learn, serve and grow in the Gloucester Diocese. Thank you!”
Michael Hillier
“I will be going on to doing my curacy at St Saviour's in Guildford. It has been an amazing two years at Wycliffe Hall that has just flown by! I have been stretched academically and grown in my sense of calling, whilst being nurtured within this Christ-shaped community. Wycliffe has helped me to realise that I'm not simply enrolled into His service, but primarily, I'm adopted into His family. I'm looking forward to serving in the family business of reconciliation.”
Christopher Jefferis
“After studying part-time at Wycliffe for four years, and now having completed the Diploma, I will be taking a break for a year and may return in 2027 to complete the BTh! Studying here and being part of the Wycliffe community has been an amazing experience and hopefully will set me up to serve more effectively in the church.”
Antonia Johnson
“My time at Wycliffe has been formational, enlightening, and joyful! It has been a blessing to devote a year to theological study and to be formed in this community. As I go out into student ministry in Oxford, I would love prayer for wisdom, strength, and grace, and that I would be daily rooted by the love of God.”
Gemma Leadley
“I am so grateful for the gift of the past three years here at Wycliffe Hall. I have been so incredibly blessed by this very unexpected journey! I am intrigued to see where God leads me next, and with this in mind, I would really value your prayers for discernment and wisdom. Thank you!”
Elliot Miller
“I was ordained in Winchester Diocese as the Assistant Curate of St. Win's church (Totton and Calmore Parish) in June. At Wycliffe, I've thoroughly enjoyed learning the exegetical, hermeneutical, and homiletical skills I will need for my future in parish ministry and am most looking forward to joining in with the vibrant life of the Church in the New Forest. Please pray that my research into diaconal renewal, fresh expressions, and Heavy Metal music will yield innovative and fruitful ministries, to the glory of God!”
Niall Murray-Sharpe
“I am going to be Assistant Curate at St Mary's Worsbrough and Holy Trinity Elsecar with St Andrew's Hoyland. I would appreciate prayers for this next stage, as well as for Steve the Vicar, Cathy the Associate Priest, and all the parishioners in the villages I will be ministering in.”
Karen Nelson
“I will continue my work with the I See You Trust - a Cape Town based charity providing mentorship, life skills, trauma support, and career guidance to marginalised young women in Cape Town. I hope to launch biannual retreats for people working in the charitable sector who are suffering from burnout. In both these endeavours I will be drawing deeply from the transformative knowledge gained during my time here at Wycliffe, for which I am eternally grateful.”
Alistair Reid
“I am going to be a part-time curate at St Michael at the Northgate in central Oxford, alongside finishing my DPhil. I have been grateful for the opportunities and encouragement to pursue further academic study that I have received at Wycliffe, set within a worshipping community and seeking to enrich the church. I would value prayer for us as a family as we move church and adjust to new patterns, balancing ministry and academia – that through it all, we would walk in step with the Spirit.”
Matthew Rengert
“I'm off to Canterbury to take up a Choral Scholarship at the cathedral there. I've had such a lovely time at Wycliffe - though much of it has been spent juggling social commitments here and the busy evenings I have singing around Oxford. The Hall has been an excellent staging ground both for my academic development and my musical development, and I'm very much looking forward to continuing my singing journey at Canterbury Cathedral. There are lots of potential doors ahead so I would appreciate prayer both for the right ones to open, and for guidance from the Lord to discern the right ones to go through!”
Jason Royce
“I will be Curate at Corby St John the Baptist with The Epiphany & Gretton. Wycliffe has played a pivotal role in forming me ready for the next step into curacy! I’ve loved times of shared worship, making new friends and the chance to dedicate time to study. Please pray for our family as we move this summer. I’m looking forward to encouraging people of all ages in their discipleship!”
Oliver Smith
“I am going to be Curate of The Benefice of the Moreton Vale Churches in the Diocese of Gloucester.”
Mayank Solikar
“I will be Curate at St. Paul's, South Harrow, London. The last two years at Wycliffe have been equipping, fulfilling, and rejuvenating. Wycliffe Hall provided me with the opportunity to listen and learn from some of the most distinguished people from around the globe.
“It has been a privilege to be part of a loving, caring and passionate community. The academic studies, the chapel prayers, the prayer walks and the coffee chats have formed, transformed and prepared me for the next steps in my journey. I have a better sense of my gifts and calling at the end of these two years. I am looking forward to sharing the Good News of Christ to the world that is perishing and disintegrating.
“Please pray for my family, my church and the multiethnic community that I am going to serve.”
Andrew Stewart
“I’m going to be Curate at Holy Trinity Platt, Manchester. I’m so grateful for my time at Wycliffe. I’ve been stretched and pushed in my thinking and my faith, all while making some amazing, lifelong friends. Please pray for my family as we move to a new city, and that God would use all that I have been doing in my three years here, and what I will do in my (hopefully) many years of ministry, to glorify His name.”
James Wakefield
“I am going to be Curate at St. Mark's Church, Tattenham Corner in Epsom. I have loved the learning and the people at Wycliffe; what a great community. Please pray that I know how to prioritise the many responsibilities of curacy, that I would be prayerful and preach faithfully.”
Jacob Wigley
“I am going on to serve my curacy at Chichester Cathedral. I have had the most brilliant time at Wycliffe over the last two years, but I am also excited for this new adventure going forwards into curacy. Please pray for me, my wife Hannah, and our baby Isabelle, as we transition into this new chapter of our lives in Chichester.”
