Join us in Oxford for the Wycliffe Hall Intensive: an exciting week of theological learning, conversation and fellowship with an expert in their field.
About the course
Leadership matters, and it matters a lot.
The church is crying out for good leadership. But it isn’t just the church – we need strong leaders in all walks of life, from business to education to the church. This week will give you the tools needed to be a good Christian leader, through understanding the five phases of the leadership lifecycle:
- establishing trust
- cultivating leaders
- discerning vision
- implementing plans
- transitioning out
You will learn from biblical examples of leadership, reflect on the different elements of the leadership lifecycle in churches and other organisations, and apply the teaching to your own leadership context. Teaching will be through lectures, workshops and group discussions.
The week is for those new to Christian leadership, those with some experience of it, and for those who have been in leadership for many years. It’s for those leading in Christian contexts and for Christians in leadership outside the church, as well as for those in supporting leadership roles.
Expect practical wisdom that can be applied to day-to-day challenges, all while helping you understand the bigger picture of your role and grow your effectiveness in service to God’s kingdom.
Expert speaker
The week will be led by Wycliffe Hall's Vice-Principal, Revd Dr Justyn Terry.
Justyn Terry has been fascinated by leaders from an early age and has been involved in Christian leadership since the age of 13, when he took up a leadership role in the school Christian Union.
His leadership experience since then spans 25 years of roles in industry, in the church and in higher education. He has also led jazz bands for years, which he claims can be much harder at times!
He is now Vice-Principal at Wycliffe Hall, having previously been Dean/President at Trinity School for Ministry (Trinity Anglican Seminary) in Pittsburgh, USA. Prior to moving to the USA, he was Vicar at St Helen’s Church in North Kensington. His book The Five Phases of Leadership and this course originated in lectures he gave to students in Pittsburgh on his experience as Vicar in North Kensington.
