“Would absolutely recommend Wycliffe to others!”

November 2024

This year’s Student Satisfaction Survey attracted a high level of participation and yielded encouraging and constructive feedback to inform the Hall’s continuous improvement.

Students were encouraged to tell us everything they wished to, and Wycliffe is extremely grateful for the time, care and quality of reflection that students devoted to their responses.

Key themes

A theme running through the entire survey was our strong community - both student-led and through staff leading by example. Responses also highlighted our rich and nourishing Chapel life and recognised the strength of studying/training in a setting that celebrates the diversity and breadth of the Church of England.

Also noted was the value of fellowship groups and the success of recent innovations in preaching training.

Responses made clear that life at Wycliffe is enhanced by opportunities to engage with the city, churches, and wider University of Oxford. They highlighted the fertile intellectual ground that Wycliffe provides, as well as the quality of academic and pastoral support from its staff.

A selection of quotes

  • “Wycliffe Hall is definitely a great place to study, but it's above all the spirit of love and humility which I have come across that will always stick with me.”
  • “Would absolutely recommend Wycliffe to others! I am loving my time here and feel it is an absolutely immense blessing :) Thank you to all the wonderful staff and students before me who have cultivated this!”
  • “The fraternity and love that shape the community have sustained me in my development and studies and will be something I carry with me in my future ministry.”
  • “I find the mix of ages and stages, ambitions and reasons-for-studying, theological points of view, and interaction with staff (all staff, not just the tutors) thoroughly invigorating”
  • “I think we're occupying such a wonderfully unique position not just in the Church of England, but across the world right now; how many other theological colleges can say they have student prayer/study groups from both charismatics, conservative evangelicals and anglo-catholics?”
  • “Thank you for the consistent way in which Wycliffe staff across the board listen to and receive our feedback so graciously, and are so constructive in seeking to make this as great a place and community as possible. It is wonderful to be a part of such a warm and friendly college!”

Informing the Hall’s development

As ever, our aims are to understand what we are doing well and where there is room for improvement and we are grateful for the learning and development points that our students have reflected back to us. The Hall commits to exploring the various actions and changes prompted by the feedback received, as well as continuing those activities which are clearly working.
